Tung Sol EL34B
The Tung Sol EL34B has a higher impedance design with increased touch responsiveness and a unique clipping characteristic. It also has a hint of the 6L6 sound.
The EL34 is found in many British guitar amps and is associated with the “British Tone”. This is compared to the 6L6 which is generally associated with the “American Tone”.
It was originally introduced in 1953 by Mullard and its parent company Philips but is no longer made by them. It is now manufactured by JJ, Svetlana and Sovtek, Electro-Harmonix and Tung-Sol.
