Mullard EL84 Power Tube
The new production Mullard EL84 Power Tube (6BQ5) is another “re-born” classic from New Sensor. With lush mids and punchy bass, these power tubes are sure to please even the most demanding EL84 amp owner.
Note: These tubes have a slightly larger diameter than other EL84 tubes so they can not be installed into some ’90’s era Marshall DSL201 or DSL401 amplifiers, some ’90’s era reissue Vox AC15 amps, and Bad Cat amps.
The Mullard EL84 tubes were made in both the old “shield” logo in white ink, and later the IEC/Mullard logo in white. They are rarer than Amperex, but worth seeking out. The are powerful, yet creamy, with a nice deep richness and warmth in the lower mids and bass. Mullard made these for GE, Raytheon, Admiral, and many other USA brands. They can be spotted by the seams on the top of the glass, “Great Britain” in white at the top or bottom, and the “B” code for the Blackburn factory at the bottom.
