JJ 6L6GC Power Tube
The JJ 6L6GC Power Tube have been described as big, open, and articulate. These are the words that come to mind when listening to the JJ tubes. The tubes have great tone and nicely capture the “6L6 sound”, characterized by sparkling highs, warm mids, and controlled bass response.
This tube is fat and smooth with some sparkle on the top-end. It offers more bite than most other 6L6 style tubes.
In overdrive, it offers a tight and focused bite with crisp, bright and well-defined articulation.
What amps suit JJ 6L6GC Power Tubes?
The 6L6 tube has been in manufacture for more than 70 years, making it one of the longest active lifetimes of any electronic component. They are very popular in a range of hi-fi amps and guitar amplifiers alike.
The Fender Bassman is the amp that ‘started it all”, and is loaded with 2 x 6L6 (or 5881 in US naming conventions).
The 6L6GC has a cleaner sound than the EL34.
